ROBERT W GAY
FOUNDER

Robert W Gay founded RWG Investment Counsel in 2013 to provide investor clients with access to the superior investment returns created from proprietary corporate performance metrics. Identifying changes in company fundamentals related to growth, financial condition, cash flow and investing is the key to stock performance.

Bob created the OTOS team in 2013 to create an opportunity for people to gain access to the tremendous investment value of keeping up with company fundamentals. By aggregating into portfolios associated with mutual funds, exchange traded funds and private accounts, these metrics can be deployed to make asset allocation, mutual fund selection and ETF selection decisions.

The OTOS development team is creating a whole new realm of financial management. Through the dynamic visualization of the historical company data record, investors create strategies and play what-if games in the stock market. Experience, education and insight gleaned from this game-play empower people to take more control of their investments.

Mr. Gay founded GEARS in 1997, following more than a decade and a half of experience in quantitative equity analysis. The GEARS data team has developed and patented a computer learning technology that extracts line-items from financial statements filed each quarter with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. This creates a real time custom data feed that informs transaction decisions at RWG Investment Counsel and powers the content on OTOS Wealth System.

From 1987 to 1996, Mr. Gay was Vice President and Director of Quantitative Research at Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette, in New York, where he developed the database and software for the RISK decision process and marketed it as a custom quantitative service to investment institutions. Mr. Gay was selected to Institutional Investor Magazine's All-American Research team each year from 1990 through 1995.

Earlier, during his 1981-1987 career as quantitative analyst at Dominion Securities Ltd. in Toronto, Mr. Gay developed the Price of Growth process for Canadian equities. Price of Growth is an innovative time-series oriented equity investment decision-making tool based on equity yield and growth spreads. It was the top-ranked Canadian quantitative research product in the Financial Post's Brenden Wood analyst's poll from 1984 to 1987.

Immediately prior founding GEARS, he was Executive Vice President and Director of Quantitative Research at the New York-based US unit of Loewen, Ondaatje, McCutcheon Ltd., a Canadian institutional research boutique. While there, Mr. Gay further perfected the RISK pattern recognition process into a text based research product producing quarterly research reports on over 4,000 North American companies.

Born in Lynn Lake, Manitoba, on Sept. 22, 1955, Mr. Gay graduated with high honors in economics from the University of Saskatchewan. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in economics from the University of Western Ontario and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
